Critical Acclaim(ish)
July 5, 2010 – 4:04 pmSince January, I’ve made a concerted effort to regularly attend the local juggling, magic and story telling clubs in the area. It’s a good thing to do personally, professionally, and for the relevant organizations. I enjoy forging friendships and learning new skills but the part that I love best is the opportunity to perform in front of my peers. There are many subtleties that are lost on non-performing audiences that performers can appreciate. Plus, the challenge to present something that is original to fellow performers that have ‘seen it all’ is invigorating’. It’s especially nice when one is able to rise to the challenge and make a positive impression. Below is from the minutes of Ring 199 Magic Club meeting that was published in the June 2010 Linking Ring.
“An effect that brought more laughter from members than this reporter can remember began with Paul Miller borrowing a one-dollar bill. Then began a roller coaster of hilarity that is difficult to reconstruct, but in essence, the bill was torn to pieces, lost, identified by serial number, and the pieces eventually found reconstructed in a large space bag full of hundreds of ripped dollar bills!”
