Critical Acclaim(ish)

July 5, 2010 – 4:04 pm

Since January, I’ve made a concerted effort to regularly attend the local juggling, magic and story telling clubs in the area.  It’s a good thing to do personally, professionally, and for the relevant organizations.  I enjoy forging friendships and learning new skills but the part that I love best is the opportunity to perform in front of my peers.  There are many subtleties that are lost on non-performing audiences that performers can appreciate.  Plus, the challenge to present something that is original to fellow performers that have ‘seen it all’ is invigorating’.  It’s especially nice when one is able to rise to the challenge and make a positive impression.  Below is from the minutes of Ring 199 Magic Club meeting that was published in the June 2010 Linking Ring.

“An effect that brought more laughter from members than this reporter can remember began with Paul Miller borrowing a one-dollar bill.  Then began a roller coaster of hilarity that is difficult to reconstruct, but in essence, the bill was torn to pieces, lost, identified by serial number, and the pieces eventually found reconstructed in a large space bag full of hundreds of ripped dollar bills!”

Thanks to Secretary Tom Beaman for the great review!

Mr. Babache Gold & Silver Juggling Balls For Sale

April 26, 2010 – 12:31 pm

1 set each of Mr. Babache Gold & Silver Glitter Juggling Balls.  These are just about impossible to find in the states.  The only stateside supplier is Serious Juggling but they were out of stock.  So I went and ordered them directly from Mr. Babache himself.  After paying $30 for an international bank transfer fee and close to $40 in postage, they he ended up sending me the wrong color and then an extra set.  As a courtesy, I’m selling them for him.

If you want either set, they are $36/set plus $7.50 postage.

A while back, I received an email from someone in Africa that wanted to hire me for 3 months of juggling lessons.  I immediately recognized this as a scam but figured that I would play it out…just for fun.

What follows is the email correspondence between me and Mark James between the dates of Feb. 22 and May 12, 2009.

Performing on the Disney Wonder

November 20, 2009 – 3:09 pm

Just got back from a 5-day cruise  to the Bahamas aboard the Disney Wonder.  2 awesome shows and plenty of fine food and fun in the sun.  The highlight was maybe posing with two of my favorite characters…
